This role will report directly into, and will support the Head of Legal, Compliance and Risk for APAC.

This role will cover our the Legal, Compliance and Risk function of our operations in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and Indonesia. The role will be pivotal in assisting and supporting the Head of Legal, Compliance and Risk (APAC) in advising the business on all legal, compliance, and risk-related matters while developing a robust legal strategy across the APAC region. Overall responsibility will be ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, managing legal risk, and providing strategic legal guidance to executive leadership. This role involves managing litigation, overseeing contracts and deal advisory, providing legal advice on employment matters, advising on corporate governance, and supporting business operations with practical legal insight.

The candidate must be a qualified Malaysian lawyer, ideally with experience in private practice and / or in-house roles, who will bring strong legal acumen across contract law, data protection, and employment law, with a preference of working in the IT and / or technology sectors.

Legal Advisory:

• Provide legal counsel on commercial agreements, vendor/customer contracts, technology transactions, and regional legal frameworks.

Compliance & Risk Oversight:

• Assist in the implementation of compliance and risk programs in alignment with local laws and international best practices across APAC. Support and where needed, lead internal risk assessments and investigations.

Data Protection & Privacy:

• Oversee data privacy compliance efforts, advise on personal data policies, and ensure compliance with local data protection regulations.

Labour & Employment Matters:

• Advise on HR policies, employment law, grievances, disciplinary processes, and workplace compliance across jurisdictions.

Contract Management:

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, NDAs, service agreements, and vendor/client deals.

Training & Development:

• Design and deliver internal training programs related to legal compliance, ethics, and risk management frameworks.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate closely with senior leadership, HR, IT, and global legal and compliance team to support the company’s strategic goals.

• Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B) or equivalent.
• Admitted to the Malaysian Bar; current and valid practicing certificate required.
• Minimum 10 years of legal experience, with a strong combination of private practice and in-house corporate legal experience.
• Proven experience managing legal and compliance functions in IT or tech-driven companies.
• Familiarity with APAC legal frameworks, particularly in Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritize competing business demands.
