The Director, SAP Transformation Programs serves as the senior delivery and customer engagement leader for strategic SAP transformation initiatives within NTT DATA Business Solutions. This role is responsible for the successful planning, governance, execution, and profitability of complex SAP transformation programs, with a primary focus on customers transitioning to SAP S/4HANA and RISE with SAP.
The Director partners closely with Sales, Customer Engagement, SAP Delivery Teams, Managed Services, SAP, Global Delivery Centers, and strategic partners to support presales activities, define transformation strategies, oversee project execution, and ensure successful customer outcomes. Acting as the executive escalation point for assigned engagements, the Director establishes trusted advisor relationships with customer stakeholders and provides leadership throughout the transformation lifecycle.
The Director is accountable for project health, customer satisfaction, delivery quality, resource alignment, and financial performance across assigned SAP transformation programs. This role also contributes to organizational capability development, methodology advancement, talent development, and the ongoing growth of NTT DATA's SAP Transformation practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Presales and Business Development
- Partner with Sales and Customer Engagement teams to support SAP transformation opportunities.
- Lead project estimation, staffing strategies, risk assessments, and delivery planning activities.
- Review scope, assumptions, timelines, and delivery approaches prior to proposal and contract execution.
- Develop and review Statements of Work (SOWs) and support internal governance and approval processes.
- Present SAP transformation methodologies, accelerators, delivery capabilities, and implementation approaches to prospective customers.
- Participate in executive customer workshops, roadmap sessions, and solution discussions.
- Collaborate with SAP, Global Delivery Centers, and strategic partners on go-to-market and delivery strategies.
- Identify differentiators, best practices, and innovation opportunities that strengthen NTT DATA's SAP Transformation offerings.
B. Customer Engagement and Account Leadership
- Serve as the executive delivery lead for assigned SAP transformation programs.
- Establish credibility with customer executives and stakeholders as a trusted advisor for SAP transformation initiatives.
- Develop strong relationships with business and IT leaders across assigned customer accounts.
- Understand customer business objectives, transformation priorities, and organizational challenges.
- Lead executive steering committee meetings and program governance reviews.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex delivery, technical, and program management issues.
- Provide proactive communication regarding program status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Advocate for customer success while balancing project scope, timeline, budget, and business objectives.
- Foster a culture of exceptional customer service, responsiveness, and accountability.
C. Portfolio Delivery Leadership
- Maintain overall responsibility for the health, quality, and success of a portfolio of SAP transformation programs.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual commitments, approved methodologies, and quality standards.
- Monitor project financial performance, including revenue, margin, forecasting accuracy, and resource utilization.
- Ensure assigned programs achieve profitability and operational performance objectives.
- Oversee program governance, risk management, issue resolution, and executive reporting.
- Develop mitigation strategies for project risks and delivery challenges.
- Coordinate delivery activities across Field Consulting, Managed Services, SAP, hyperscaler partners, subcontractors, and Global Delivery Centers.
- Drive consistency in project execution, reporting, and customer experience across all engagements.
- Continuously improve estimation models, delivery frameworks, and implementation methodologies.
D. SAP Transformation Strategy Leadership
- Provide leadership for SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives, including Brownfield, Selective Data Transition, and RISE with SAP programs.
- Guide customers through technology modernization strategies that align with business objectives and SAP best practices.
- Support planning and execution of cloud migration, landscape transformation, technical conversion, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with SAP, hyperscaler providers, and strategic partners to ensure successful transformation outcomes.
- Promote adoption of SAP best practices, Clean Core principles, and modernization strategies.
- Evaluate emerging SAP technologies, tools, and innovations to enhance customer value and delivery effectiveness.
- Support continuous enhancement of transformation methodologies, accelerators, and reusable delivery assets.
E. Practice and People Leadership
- Mentor and develop Program Managers, Project Managers, Architects, and SAP delivery leaders.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning, and capability development initiatives.
- Participate in hiring decisions and talent development activities.
- Promote knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and professional development across the SAP Transformation practice.
- Contribute to organizational capability development and strategic growth objectives.
- Champion methodology adoption, delivery excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate across consulting, managed services, sales, and global delivery organizations to optimize customer outcomes and resource utilization.
Position Requirements / Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of SAP implementation experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- 8+ years leading complex SAP programs and transformation initiatives.
- Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA transformation approaches, including Brownfield, Greenfield, Selective Data Transition, and RISE with SAP.
- Experience leading multiple full lifecycle SAP implementations across various industries.
- Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and customer engagement skills.
- Demonstrated experience in project estimation, scoping, planning, delivery governance, and risk management.
- Experience managing geographically distributed delivery teams and global delivery organizations.
- Ability to facilitate executive workshops, steering committees, and strategic planning sessions.
- Proven ability to manage project financials, profitability, forecasting, and operational performance.
Preferred
- SAP certifications relevant to SAP S/4HANA, SAP Technology, or SAP Cloud solutions.
- Experience with SAP cloud transformation programs and hyperscaler platforms.
- Pre-sales, solutioning, and business development experience.
- Experience leading portfolio-level SAP programs and strategic customer engagements.
- Experience working with SAP RISE programs and enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
