HCM - Payroll Lead Consultant - L3

 

Job Description:

 

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Solution Architecture & Advanced Configuration

Lead end‑to‑end design and configuration of SAP Employee Central Payroll, covering complex wage types, schemas, PCRs, evaluation classes, and statutory requirements.
Architect scalable payroll solutions and recommend process enhancements aligned with industry best practices.
Drive optimization activities across payroll schemas, retro processes, off‑cycle payroll, and Payroll Control Center (PCC) configurations.

Employee Central to ECP Integration Management

Own and govern EC–ECP integration, ensuring stability and accuracy across all interfaces.
Lead design and maintenance of BIB frameworks, complex field mappings, and replication logic.
Conduct root‑cause analysis for replication failures and lead integration issue resolution across cross‑functional teams.

Payroll Operations Leadership

Oversee payroll execution cycles, including pre‑payroll validations, payroll simulation runs, and post‑payroll audits.
Perform deep analysis of payroll logs, clusters, and results to resolve high‑complexity payroll discrepancies.
Guide business users and junior consultants through payroll processes, PCC activities, and statutory calculations.

Testing Governance & Quality Assurance

Define comprehensive test strategies covering unit, integration, regression, parallel runs, and UAT.
Review and validate test cases, ensuring complete functional coverage and documentation.
Lead defect triaging, impact analysis, and ensure high‑quality delivery across project phases.

Data Migration Leadership

Lead payroll-related data migration strategy, including extraction rules, transformation logic, and mapping validations.
Perform complex reconciliation between legacy systems and ECP during implementation and cutover.
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and readiness prior to production migration.

Issue Resolution & AMS Leadership

Serve as the L3 escalation point for complex payroll issues, statutory queries, and configuration defects.
Provide technical guidance to L1/L2 teams and mentor junior consultants on issue handling and troubleshooting.
Implement long‑term corrective actions and preventive process improvements across the payroll landscape.

Documentation, Compliance & Stakeholder Management

Create and maintain high‑quality documentation including functional specs, design documents, impact assessments, and knowledge assets.
Ensure compliance with audit, SOX, and statutory payroll requirements.
Collaborate with HR, finance, and technical teams to ensure seamless execution of payroll operations and project deliverables.


Required Skills & Experience
SAP Expertise

Strong end‑to‑end experience in SAP HCM Payroll or SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll.
Expertise in schemas, PCRs, wage type configuration, retro rules, off‑cycle payroll, PCC, clusters, and statutory payroll processes.

Integration & Technical Competency

Strong hands‑on experience with EC–ECP Integration, BIB mappings, and replication monitoring tools.
Deep understanding of payroll data structures, master data flows, info types, and payroll reporting.
Ability to analyze ABAP payroll driver logs and collaborate with technical teams for enhancements.

Implementation & Support Experience

Minimum 8–10 years of experience in SAP Payroll / ECP with at least 2–3 end‑to‑end implementations.
Proven experience leading payroll cutover, UAT cycles, parallel runs, and go‑live activities.
Strong exposure to support environments with ability to manage high‑severity tickets and escalations.


Preferred Skills

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central hands‑on experience.
Expertise in BIB enhancements and integration error handling.
Knowledge of statutory payroll requirements across regions.
Experience mentoring resources and owning workstreams independently.


Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with an ownership mindset.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation abilities.
Ability to lead tasks independently and collaborate with global teams.
Strong aptitude for learning and adapting in dynamic project environments.


Certifications (Preferred)

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll Certification.
SAP HCM Payroll Certification.


Experience Requirements

8–10 years of SAP HCM / SuccessFactors experience.
Strong hands‑on expertise in SAP Payroll or SuccessFactors EC Payroll.
Leadership experience in support or implementation projects is highly preferred.
