Job Title: SAP FICO / PS / DRC Consultant

Location: Home-based (UK) with minimal travel (up to 20%)

Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic SAP Finance Consultant to join our Managed Services team, specializing in guiding our clients through the complexities of modern digital tax compliance and statutory reporting. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role requiring a unique combination of deep functional expertise in SAP FICO (Financial Accounting and Controlling) and PS (Project System) with an aptitude for and interest in SAP's flagship Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC) solution.

You will be a key subject matter expert responsible for supporting and enhancing solutions that address the UK's Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT mandate. Your mission will be to ensure our clients not only meet their immediate regulatory obligations but also build a scalable, future-proof compliance framework. This role is pivotal in managing the end-to-end lifecycle of electronic documents, from their origin in core financial transactions to their real-time, API-based submission to government authorities, ensuring seamless integration and operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Core CO/PS Functional Expertise & Support:

• Provide end-to-end support for SAP CO modules, including Cost Center Accounting (CCA), Profit Center Accounting (PCA), Internal Orders, Product Costing (PC, including Material Ledger), and Profitability Analysis (CO-PA).
• Provide expert functional support for SAP PS, including project structuring, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), networks, milestones, and complex settlement processes (including results analysis).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex configuration, master data, and transactional issues across the CO and PS modules.
• Support clients' period-end closing activities, including cost allocations, project settlements, and reconciliation processes within CO and PS.
• Collaborate with FI, MM, SD, and PM teams to resolve cross-functional issues and provide robust integration support.
• Develop and implement enhancements, custom reports, and developments based on detailed business requirements, creating comprehensive functional specifications and test scripts.

Advanced Compliance & Statutory Reporting (DRC / MTD):

• Statutory Reporting & MTD Support: Act as a key contact for clients on SAP’s statutory reporting solutions, focusing on supporting the UK's MTD for VAT mandate, including its configuration, maintenance, and secure submission process.
• Process Monitoring & Integration: Assist in monitoring electronic document submissions using tools like the eDocument Cockpit and work with technical teams to support the integration framework (AIF, SAP BTP).
• Client Advisory: Develop into a trusted advisor on digital tax strategy, helping clients navigate regulatory changes and understand the benefits of modern compliance frameworks.

Customer Management & Communication:

• Act as a primary point of contact for assigned customers, building strong, long-term relationships and delivering exceptional service levels.
• Liaise directly with senior client stakeholders to investigate, analyse, and resolve highly complex functional and technical issues, demonstrating superior problem-solving skills.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, translating intricate compliance regulations and system configurations into clear, concise business solutions and risks.
• Work collaboratively within a remote consulting team, adhering to best-practice service management processes and stringent SLAs.

Essential Skills & Experience:

SAP FICO & PS Expertise:

• Deep, expert-level functional and configuration knowledge of SAP S/4HANA (Private & Public Cloud, On-Premises) and ECC Finance.
• Specialist expertise in Product Cost Controlling (CO-PC), including deep experience with Material Ledger (ML).
• Specialist expertise in Project Systems (PS), particularly with Results Analysis (RA) and complex project settlement configurations.
• Strong understanding of the integration points between FI/CO/PS and other core modules (MM, SD, PM).
• Proven experience in full project lifecycle implementations, from blueprinting to post-go-live support.

SAP Digital Compliance & Reporting Expertise:

• Interest in Digital Tax: A strong interest in SAP’s digital tax solutions is required. While experience with SAP DRC, UK MTD, or SAF-T is advantageous, a strong aptitude and willingness to learn is paramount.
• MTD & Technical Aptitude: An understanding of UK MTD for VAT regulations is required, along with a keen interest in developing skills in related SAP technologies like the eDocument Framework and AIF.
• Tools Exposure: Familiarity with tools like the eDocument Cockpit is beneficial.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build rapport and trust with clients and colleagues in a remote environment.
• The ability to positively influence senior stakeholders and be accepted as a trusted advisor on complex financial and technical matters.
• A demonstrated ability to present complex solutions clearly and understandably to both SAP-savvy and non-technical business audiences.
