Director PMO Tools Templates & Processes

Position Description:

As the Director of PMO focused on Tools, Templates, and Processes, you are in a hybrid role of delivering projects to our customers and driving our project management standards and practices with a streamlined approach across the NTT DATA Business Solutions (NDBS). This Director of PMO responsibilities will involve overseeing the development and maintenance of project management frameworks that support efficiency, consistency, and quality in project execution.  In this capacity, the Director of PMO is responsible for influencing the development, adoption, education, and adherence of NDBS project management methodology, tools, and templates for delivery of our client facing projects. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Key Responsibilities Include
  • Lead the assessment and maturity model focused on the PMO tools, templates, and processes to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with our client facing delivery of projects and the broader organizational goals.
  • Leverage SAP platforms (CALM) and our global developed platforms (MS SharePoint and other MS applications) while incorporating personalization for US specific requirements.  Evaluate the best way, as necessary, to augment these tools and platforms for a standardized utilization. Leverage organizational AI initiatives to drive automation in project tracking, reporting, and workflows to reduce manual effort and improve consistency; to proactively manage project risks and issues across the portfolio.
  • Develop and deliver both training and utilization of tools, templates, and processes for project managers and other internal and external stakeholders, to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of our project management processes.  
  • Continue to refine metrics to track project performance and success, and ensure reporting is clear and aligned with organizational objectives, ensuring accurate and up-to-date project data within the tools.
  • Work closely with senior leadership, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure PMO standards are understood and adopted across the organization, by effective utilization of the tools.
  • Resource allocation and load balancing, to deliver projects.

 

  1. PMO Project Governance and Methodology
  • Advocate and educator of NDBS project methodology to entire organization
  • Implement quality standards and governance structures to ensure projects are delivered in compliance to agreed-upon standards, including stage-gates, reviews, and performance assessments.
  • Collaborate with other LOBs (examples include Managed Services, P&A, CX, Innovation, GIIC – Global Innovation and Industry Consulting, etc.) in developing, implementing, and monitoring the Project Management processes within the Activate+ framework and best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PMO standards, methodologies, and best practices with standardized templates for steering committees, status reports, risk management, and other essential documentation to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Provide a foundation for discipline, education, monitoring and institutionalization of Predictive Project Management for all phases and types of project delivery.
  • Working with the broader organization establish methods to track and monitor project health metrics (examples include Risk Management, Schedule Attainment, Profitability etc.)
  • Gather feedback from project managers and teams to continuously refine and improve (i.e., templates, etc.) to better fit the organization’s evolving needs.
  • Special assignments as needed for Global collaboration.

 

  1. Consulting
  • Deliver overview of methodology and approach for presales cycles and project startups as required.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a point of contact for key clients
  • Work with Project Managers to understand client needs and expectations, ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Address client concerns or issues promptly and professionally
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality SAP Solutions.
  • Review project deliverables and ensure our tools, templates and processes are aligned.
  • Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Directly manage one or more projects
  • Maintain acceptable profitability targets for our projects.
  • Provide backlog and forecast for assigned projects to Engagement Manager
  • Establish credibility with clients as their Trusted Advisor

 

  1. Self-Development
  • Relevant SAP course participation for on-going enablement on market direction yearly.
  • Personal Development course participation every year to continue to grow leadership and relevant professional skills.
  • Enhanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SharePoint, Analytics, AI, and other relevant Project Management and Leadership tools and processes.
  • Continuous relevance on trends in project management tools, methodologies, best practices and incorporate, as needed, to continuously improve PMO effectiveness.

 

  1. Skills & Expertise:
  • Tool Expertise: Proficiency in project management software Activate, CALM, MS Project, MS applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) with a curiosity on other project management tools and applications and how/if they should be leveraged.
  • Process Improvement: Experience with SAP Activate and a broad perspective on other project management methodologies to drive ongoing improvement.
  • Project Management:  project scoping, estimating, and planning/scheduling experience required.
  • Professional skills:  Drive consistency, communication across broad group of stakeholders, key knowledge of focus on consistency with the right level of personalization.
  • Industry:  Broad Industry experience and type of project implementation experience
  • Change Management: Leading change initiatives related to the adoption of new tools or processes, ensuring smooth transitions and team buy-in

 

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a Computer Science related degree, or a degree with equivalent experience.  Advanced degree, project management certification, and/or SAP certifications are a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP solutions and best practices.
  • Minimum 8 years of SAP project management experience in consulting and client facing roles
    • Cross functional SAP implementation experience with experience across entire application
    • Experience across multiple industries
    • At least 3 full cycle SAP project impelmentations
    • Ability to lead strategic workshops with clients
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for internal team collaboration, client, and C-Level interactions.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Well versed in Microsoft office products

The annual base compensation range for this role will be $157,637 - $266,270.  The exact compensation at which this job is filled will be determined by a number of factors including but not limited to organizational needs and the qualified candidate’s skill set, certifications, and experience.
