Job Description
Autonomation Architect

Job Description:

Function / Role
Autonomation Architect

Job Summary
The Autonomation Architect is responsible for designing modular, reusable, and intuitive automation architectures that enable reliable, scalable autonomation across NDBS. The role combines strong solution architecture experience with practical automation and integration skills to ensure that automations are robust, observable, and simple to adopt for central development and virtual automation teams.
This includes defining architecture standards, patterns, and shared components, as well as validating design feasibility and guiding solution choices that fit the Autonomation Engine. The Autonomation Architect works closely with Business Process Analysts, Development teams, Platform, and Operations to connect business intent with technical execution.
The position requires strong analytical and conceptual skills, experience with automation and integration platforms, excellent communication, and a continuous improvement mindset. Experience with AI‑enabled detection, monitoring, or self‑healing capabilities is advantageous.

•    Work with Platform to ensure connectors, environments, and integrations support Autonomation use cases.
•    Anticipate impacts from platform or vendor changes and communicate them early.

Reusable Components and Developer Experience
•    Identify common functions and lead creation of shared components and templates.
•    Promote reuse and ensure components remain intuitive and well documented.
•    Support VAT and developers in applying patterns correctly.

Reliability, Observability, and Autonomation Enablement
•    Embed logging, metrics, and alerting into design guidelines to support monitoring and low intervention behaviour.
•    Adjust patterns and standards based on incident trends and operational insights.
•    Partner with Operations to improve resilience and self healing capability over time.

Cross Team Collaboration and Improvement

•    Proven experience defining and applying architecture standards, patterns, and reusable components in complex environments.
•    Experience designing reliable and observable systems, including logging, metrics, alerts, and basic self healing or recovery mechanisms.
•    Familiarity with autonomation or similar concepts where systems detect issues, react automatically, and minimise manual intervention.
•    Experience working with or alongside AI enabled monitoring, anomaly detection, or decision support tools is advantageous.
•    Strong communication skills with the ability to explain design choices and trade offs to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
•    Collaborative working style, comfortable facilitating cross team discussions and design workshops.
•    Self driven, structured, and able to balance long term architectural direction with hands on design review and support.
