Role Summary
The SAP S/4HANA FICO Consultant – L4 will lead the design, implementation, and support of SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling solutions, with a strong focus on SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. The role requires deep functional expertise, proven customer-facing skills, and the ability to independently drive finance workstreams through the full project lifecycle—from discovery and fit-to-standard workshops through go-live and hyper care.
The consultant will work closely with client finance teams, project managers, technical teams, and other SAP functional consultants to deliver scalable, compliant, and business-aligned solutions.
Key Responsibilities
•    Lead SAP S/4HANA FICO workstreams for implementation, rollout, enhancement, and support projects.
•    Conduct customer workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, fit-to-standard workshops, and solution demonstrations.
•    Analyze business processes and translate finance and controlling requirements into SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud standard capabilities.
•    Configure and support SAP S/4HANA Finance processes, including:
o    General Ledger Accounting
o    Accounts Payable
o    Accounts Receivable
o    Asset Accounting
o    Bank Accounting and cash-related processes
o    Tax configuration
o    Closing and financial reporting processes
o    Cost Center Accounting
o    Profit Center Accounting
o    Internal Orders
o    Product Costing and profitability-related processes, where applicable
•    Configure enterprise structure, chart of accounts, fiscal year variants, posting periods, document types, payment terms, tolerance groups, and other core finance settings.
•    Support integration of FICO with SAP modules such as MM, SD, PP, EWM, and SuccessFactors, as applicable.
•    Lead data migration activities for finance master and transactional data, including data validation, reconciliation, mock loads, and cutover support.
•    Prepare functional specifications for reports, forms, workflows, integrations, extensions, and custom developments in line with clean-core principles.
•    Coordinate with ABAP, integration, data migration, security, and Basis teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
•    Plan and execute unit testing, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect resolution, and regression testing.
•    Support go-live planning, cutover execution, hypercare, and post-production stabilization.
•    Provide expert guidance to business users and stakeholders on SAP best practices, standard processes, and Public Cloud capabilities.
•    Prepare and maintain project deliverables, including business process documents, configuration documents, functional specifications, test scripts, training materials, and cutover plans.
•    Manage customer expectations, communicate project status, identify risks, and propose practical mitigation plans.
•    Mentor junior FICO consultants and review functional deliverables for quality and completeness.
Required Skills and Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
•    5–10 years of relevant SAP consulting experience in SAP Finance and Controlling.
•    Strong hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA FICO configuration and business process design.
•    At least one end-to-end SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation experience.
•    Strong knowledge of SAP Activate methodology, especially fit-to-standard, explore, realization, deploy, and hypercare phases.
•    Proven expertise in core SAP Finance areas, including GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, tax, financial closing, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, and Internal Orders.
•    Experience with finance integration points across MM, SD, PP, and other relevant SAP applications.
•    Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud extensibility, business configuration, scope items, SAP Best Practices, and clean-core principles.
•    Experience with data migration, reconciliation, master data validation, and finance cutover activities.
•    Ability to prepare clear functional specifications and work effectively with technical and integration teams.
•    Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills for finance process and integration issues.
•    Strong customer-facing, stakeholder-management, presentation, and delivery capabilities.
•    Ability to independently manage priorities, workstreams, project risks, and client communications.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills
•    SAP certification in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition – Financial Accounting and/or Management Accounting.
•    Experience with SAP Central Business Configuration (CBC).
•    Knowledge of SAP Fiori apps, embedded analytics, and standard S/4HANA financial reporting.
•    Experience with SAP Group Reporting, Treasury, Advanced Financial Closing, SAP Analytics Cloud, or SAP Ariba.
•    Exposure to multi-country or global finance transformation programs.
•    Knowledge of IFRS, local statutory reporting, tax, audit, and financial compliance requirements.
•    Experience in Agile project delivery methodologies.
