Job Description

The SAP CO Consultant – Level 3 is responsible for configuring, supporting, enhancing, and optimizing SAP Controlling (CO) processes across the organization. The role works closely with Finance, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver reliable cost management, profitability analysis, planning, reporting, and period-end closing solutions in SAP ECC or S/4HANA.
This position requires strong functional expertise in SAP CO, experience handling complex support issues and change requests, and the ability to lead assigned workstreams independently.

Key Responsibilities
•    Configure and support SAP CO processes based on business and finance

      requirements.
•     Analyze business requirements and prepare functional specifications for reports,

      enhancements, interfaces, forms, conversions, and workflows.
•     Configure and maintain key SAP CO areas, including:
o    Cost Center Accounting (CCA)
o    Internal Orders
o    Profit Center Accounting (PCA)
o    Product Cost Controlling / Product Costing
o    Cost Element Accounting
o    Activity-Based Costing
o    Profitability Analysis (CO-PA), including account-based and costing-based CO-PA

      where applicable
o    Planning, budgeting, allocations, assessments, distributions, and settlements
•    Support integration between SAP CO and other modules, particularly FI, MM, SD, PP,

      PS, PM, and Asset Accounting.
•    Manage and troubleshoot period-end and year-end closing activities, including

     allocations, overhead calculations, WIP, variance calculation, settlement, and

     Profitability reportin

•    Support cost planning, standard cost estimates, material ledger processes, and

     actual costing where applicable.
•    Analyze and resolve production incidents, service requests, defects, and root causes

     within agreed SLAs.
•    Lead requirement-gathering sessions with finance and business users and

     recommend appropriate SAP standard solutions.
•    Prepare functional design documents, configuration documents, test scripts, user

     manuals, and training materials.
•    Coordinate with SAP ABAP, Basis, Security, Integration, and Fiori teams for technical

     developments and system changes.
•    Perform unit testing and support SIT, UAT, regression testing, cutover, go-live, and

     hypercare activities.
•    Review configuration and functional specifications prepared by junior consultants,

      where assigned.
•    Support master data governance related to cost centers, profit centers, internal

      orders, activity types, cost elements, and allocation cycles.
•    Ensure adherence to SAP standards, change-management procedures, audit

     requirements, and project documentation standards.
•    Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to SAP CO optimization

     initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information

     Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
•    Typically 4–7 years of SAP CO functional consulting experience.
•    Strong hands-on configuration experience in core SAP CO areas, including Cost

     Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Profit Center Accounting, Product Costing, and

     CO-PA.
•    Practical experience with SAP CO period-end closing processes, including:
o    Assessment and distribution cycles
o    Activity allocations
o   Overhead calculations, Settlement, Processing, WIP Calculation
o   Variance calculation
o   Cost centre and profit center reporting
•    Strong understanding of integration between SAP FI and CO.
•    Experience integrating CO with MM, SD, PP, and other relevant SAP modules.
•    Knowledge of standard costing, actual costing, material ledger, inventory valuation,

     and manufacturing cost processes is preferred.
•    Experience in preparing functional specifications and working with ABAP developers

     on custom reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and data migration objects.
•    Familiarity with SAP Fiori applications and S/4HANA Finance / Controlling concepts.
•    Experience in incident management, change requests, enhancements,

     implementation, rollout, or AMS support projects.
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management

      skills.
•    Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross-functional

      teams.

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience with SAP S/4HANA CO implementation or migration projects.
•    Experience in S/4HANA Margin Analysis and Universal Journal concepts.
•    Knowledge of SAP Group Reporting, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Embedded

      Analytics, or BW reporting.
•    Exposure to SAP Activate methodology, Agile delivery, or ITIL-based support

     processes.
•    SAP certification in SAP S/4HANA Management Accounting, Financial Accounting  or

     related Finance solutions.
•    Experience in manufacturing, retail, automotive, consumer goods, or process-

     industry business environments.

•    Timely resolution of CO incidents, defects, and service requests within SLA

•    Accuracy and stability of SAP CO configuration and period-end processes.
•    Successful delivery of assigned enhancements, change requests, and project

      milestones.
•    Quality of functional specifications, test documentation, and user documentation.
•    Reduction in recurring production issues and manual finance activities.
•    Successful completion of SIT, UAT, cutover, and go-live support activities.
•    Positive feedback from Finance and business stakeholders.
