Role Summary
The Senior Presales Manager will lead the development of customer-centric, technically sound, and commercially competitive solutions for strategic opportunities within the IT services business.
The role requires strong experience in understanding complex customer requirements, designing end-to-end solutions, leading proposal and bid activities, developing commercial models, and presenting value propositions to senior customer stakeholders.
The successful candidate will work closely with sales leaders, solution architects, delivery teams, technology partners, finance, legal, commercial, and executive management teams to improve deal quality, win probability, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Opportunity Qualification and Presales Strategy
•    Partner with sales teams to qualify opportunities based on customer needs, strategic fit, competitive positioning, delivery capability, and commercial viability.
•    Lead presales planning for strategic and complex opportunities.
•    Define the overall solution strategy, win themes, value proposition, and competitive differentiators.
•    Identify customer business challenges, technology priorities, decision criteria, and key stakeholders.
•    Recommend bid or no-bid decisions based on opportunity assessment, risk, investment, and expected business value.
•    Develop account-specific and industry-specific presales strategies.
2. Customer Requirement Analysis
•    Lead discovery sessions, workshops, and stakeholder discussions to understand customer business and technical requirements.
•    Analyse Requests for Proposal, Requests for Information, Requests for Quotation, and other procurement documents.
•    Translate customer requirements into clear functional, technical, operational, and commercial solution components.
•    Identify gaps, assumptions, dependencies, risks, constraints, and clarification requirements.
•    Ensure that proposed solutions address the customer’s current challenges and long-term business objectives.
3. Solution Development and Architecture
•    Lead the design of end-to-end IT services solutions in collaboration with solution architects and delivery teams.
•    Develop solutions covering areas such as application development, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data and analytics, enterprise applications, managed services, automation, and digital transformation.
•    Define the solution scope, architecture, operating model, implementation approach, delivery methodology, governance structure, and service management framework.
•    Ensure alignment between customer requirements, proposed technologies, delivery capabilities, service levels, and commercial commitments.
•    Review and validate solution designs, effort estimates, staffing models, transition plans, and implementation schedules.
•    Promote the use of reusable solution components, accelerators, frameworks, and industry best practices.
4. Proposal and Bid Management
•    Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality technical and commercial proposals.
•    Manage cross-functional bid teams involving sales, technology, delivery, finance, legal, procurement, HR, and partner organisations.
•    Define proposal structure, response strategy, responsibilities, review cycles, and submission timelines.
•    Develop executive summaries, solution narratives, transformation roadmaps, case studies, and differentiators.
•    Ensure that all proposal responses are accurate, compliant, consistent, and aligned with customer expectations.
•    Conduct solution reviews, proposal reviews, risk reviews, and executive approval sessions.
•    Support contract negotiations and clarification discussions until deal closure.
5. Commercial Solutioning
•    Work with finance and commercial teams to develop competitive and sustainable pricing models.
•    Review effort estimates, resource plans, delivery locations, subcontractor costs, technology costs, and risk provisions.
•    Support the development of fixed-price, time-and-material, managed services, outcome-based, and consumption-based commercial models.
•    Evaluate deal profitability, gross margin, cash flow, investment requirements, and commercial risks.
•    Recommend pricing strategies and optimisation opportunities without compromising delivery quality.
•    Ensure alignment between solution commitments, pricing assumptions, service levels, and contractual obligations.
6. Customer Engagement and Presentations
•    Act as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders throughout the sales cycle.
•    Lead customer presentations, solution workshops, technical discussions, and executive briefings.
•    Present complex technical solutions in clear business language.
•    Articulate the business value, expected outcomes, return on investment, and transformation benefits of the proposed solution.
•    Lead or coordinate demonstrations, prototypes, proofs of concept, and solution validation sessions.
•    Address customer questions, objections, risks, and concerns with confidence and credibility.
•    Build relationships with business leaders, CIOs, CTOs, procurement teams, and technology decision-makers.
7. Industry and Technology Leadership
•    Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, customer priorities, and competitive offerings.
•    Provide inputs for service portfolio development, solution innovation, and go-to-market strategies.
•    Develop industry-specific and technology-specific solutions, propositions, and sales materials.
•    Collaborate with technology partners, cloud providers, software vendors, and alliance organisations.
•    Represent the company at customer events, industry forums, webinars, and internal knowledge sessions.
•    Support the creation of thought leadership content, case studies, white papers, and solution briefs.
8. Sales and Business Development Support
•    Support account planning, pipeline development, and opportunity creation.
•    Participate in strategic account reviews and business planning sessions.
•    Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within existing customer accounts.
•    Support the development of new service offerings and market-entry strategies.
•    Provide presales inputs for sales forecasts, revenue planning, and business reviews.
•    Track presales performance, opportunity status, proposal progress, and win-loss trends.
9. Leadership and Team Development
•    Lead, mentor, and guide presales consultants, solution specialists, and bid team members.
•    Allocate responsibilities and ensure effective collaboration across distributed teams.
•    Review the quality of proposals, presentations, solution documents, and commercial inputs.
•    Build presales capabilities through coaching, training, knowledge-sharing, and structured feedback.
•    Establish and improve presales processes, templates, governance, and quality standards.
•    Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
10. Risk and Governance
•    Identify technical, operational, commercial, contractual, and delivery risks during the sales cycle.
•    Develop appropriate risk mitigation plans and ensure that risks are clearly documented.
•    Ensure that proposed solutions comply with company policies, security standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual guidelines.
•    Conduct structured handover sessions from sales and presales teams to delivery teams.
•    Ensure that customer commitments, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, and contractual obligations are clearly communicated.
•    Support post-deal reviews and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
•    Master’s degree in Business Administration, Technology Management, or a related field is preferred.
•    10–12 years of experience in IT services, technology consulting, solution architecture, presales, bid management, or related roles.
•    At least 4–5 years of experience leading complex presales engagements or large strategic bids.
•    Proven experience in developing end-to-end IT services solutions for enterprise customers.
•    Strong understanding of sales cycles, proposal management, commercial modelling, and contract negotiations.
•    Experience engaging with senior business and technology stakeholders.
•    Strong knowledge of one or more technology domains, such as:

•    Experience in one or more industries such as banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, energy, or the public sector.
•    Experience working with major cloud platforms, enterprise technology vendors, or strategic technology partners.
•    Professional certifications in cloud, enterprise architecture, IT service management, project management, cybersecurity, or relevant technology platforms.
•    Experience with structured sales and qualification methodologies.
•    Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, DevOps, service integration, and enterprise architecture principles.
•    Experience developing managed services, transformation, outsourcing, or outcome-based solutions.
