Job Description: SAP CO Lead Consultant (L3) – CO Specialist
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP FICO Lead Consultant (L3) with a strong specialization in SAP Controlling (CO) for a 2-year, full-time implementation project. The ideal candidate will possess deep corporate finance domain knowledge alongside advanced, hands-on enterprise configuration experience in SAP S/4HANA Management Accounting (CO) and Finance modules.

Educational & Professional Qualifications
•    Minimum Education: Post Graduate degree (MBA Finance).
•    Preferred Education: CA / ICWA (CMA) candidates are highly preferred due to the heavy costing requirements.
•    Certification: SAP S/4HANA Management Accounting (CO) certification is preferred.
Key Requirements & Experience
•    Core Experience: 7 to 9 years of dedicated configuration experience in SAP CO.
•    S/4HANA Lifecycle: Minimum of 2 full-lifecycle S/4HANA greenfield/brownfield implementations and 2 complex support projects.
•    Niche Integration: Proven experience in Treasury and Risk Management (TRM).
•    Value Adds: Hands-on exposure to FSCM and Funds Management (FM) is a strong advantage.
•    Domain Expertise: Strong background in Management Accounting, Inventory Valuation, and Cost Accounting.
•    Leadership: Minimum 2 years in a Team Lead role, with executive presence to interface directly with client CFOs and Top Management. 
Technical Skills & Submodules
SAP Controlling (CO) – Specialized Deep Dive
•    Overhead Cost Controlling: Expert configuration of Cost Center Accounting (CO-OM-CCA), Profit Center Accounting (EC-PCA), and Internal Orders (CO-OM-OPA), including complex allocations, assessments, and distributions.
•    Product Costing (CO-PC): Advanced configuration of Product Cost Planning (Costing Variants, BOM, and Routing integration), Cost Object Controlling (Make-to-Stock, Make-to-Order), and WIP calculation. 
•    Material Ledger & Actual Costing (CO-PC-ACT): Comprehensive knowledge of Material Ledger activation, multi-currency valuation, Actual Costing execution, production variance analysis, and balance sheet revaluation.
•    Profitability Analysis (CO-PA): Hands-on expertise in S/4HANA Margin Analysis (Account-based CO-PA), Costing-based CO-PA, CO-PA planning, characteristic derivation, and complex settlement rules.
•    Period-End Closing: End-to-end execution of Controlling month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciliation with the Universal Journal (ACDOCA), and variance settlement.
SAP Financial Accounting (FI) 
•    Expertise in New General Ledger (G/L), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Accounts Payable (AP).
•    Deep knowledge of Asset Accounting (FI-AA) and Banking processes (APP, EBS).
•    Experience handling financial validations, substitutions, and parallel ledger/multi-currency reporting. 
Cross-Module Integration & Technical Delivery  
•    Manufacturing Integration: Flawless integration of CO-PC with Production Planning (PP) and Materials Management (MM) for automatic account assignment (OBYC), split valuation, and activity type price calculation.
•    Project & Sales Integration: Strong integration setup between CO/CO-PA and Project Systems (PS), Plant Maintenance (PM), and Sales & Distribution (SD) for resource-related billing and profitability tracking.
•    Data Migration: Proficiency in using SAP S/4HANA Data Migration Cockpit, LTMC, LSMW, and BDC for migrating open items, master data, and cost balances. 
•    Technical Literacy: Ability to draft technical specifications utilizing User Exits, BAPIs, and BAdIs specific to costing and profitability enhancements.
Responsibilities
•    Business Blueprinting: Lead workshops to map complex costing models, overhead structures, and profitability reports to SAP Best Practices.
•    Solution Design: Design, configure, and prototype end-to-end financial and management accounting scenarios.
•    Functional Specs: Author highly descriptive Functional Specification documents for custom RICEFW objects, pricing procedures, and custom CO reports.
•    Technical Liaison: Coordinate closely with the ABAP/technical team to test and deliver custom objects.
•    Support & Delivery: Monitor daily project delivery tickets, analyze system issues, provide effort estimates, and resolve defects within strict SLAs.
•    Travel: Mobility is mandatory; candidate must be ready for project-specific business travel and on-site deployment.

1.    Replaced Generalities with Modules: Changed generic terms like "Overheads" to specific technical terms like CO-OM-CCA, EC-PCA, and CO-OM-OPA so senior candidates know exactly what config is expected.
2.    S/4HANA Profitability Update: Updated CO-PA to highlight S/4HANA Margin Analysis (Account-based CO-PA), which is the standard architecture for S/4HANA implementations.
3.    Detailed Product Costing: Explicitly called out the Material Ledger (ML), Actual Costing split, and variance analysis, which are the hardest areas of SAP CO and crucial for a 7–9 year lead.
4.    Strengthened Integration Points: Clarified exactly what integrates (e.g., OBYC setup, BOM/Routing ties with PP/MM), which instantly filters out superficial resumes.
